About

Rita is a former Film Worker, Beautician, Police Officer, and Special Education Teacher. She currently works in school social work, private practice psychotherapy and mentoring, and makes enough time as possible for artistic pursuits. She holds an undergraduate degree in Writing and Women’s Studies, a Master of Arts in Teaching, as well as, a Master of Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Learning and Behavior Specialist. She knows a thing or two about taking the rambling road to finding yourself. She believes in the deeply restorative and healing process called "looking at your sh*t" both on your own, with your friends, and within formal mentoring and therapeutic relationships. She believes that modern society demands a level of perfection that often squelches the joy out of the day-to-day, and encourages others to practice a deeply abiding self-acceptance, before all else. From this place of radical self-acceptance we can weather the fleeting moments of life, that confront us with great heights and devastating shallows, without becoming undone or lost from our purpose. Rita has a husband and three children, that have taught her everything she needed to know about self-love, acceptance, and overcoming doubt, and helped her to finally claim her truth in this world, as a professional listener, helper and sharer. They are her lovely and amazing. She currently provides online client services in psychotherapy and mentoring.
